Ogo-Oluwa Local Government was created on the 3rd of May, 1989 by the then Military Regime of General Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida. The headquarter is situated in Ajaawa, few kilometers away from Ogbomoso. The Local Government shares boundaries in the East with Ejigbo Local Government of Osun State. In the South with Oyo East and Afijio Local Government Areas, in the North with Ogo-Oluwa West Local Council Development Area and in the West with Oriire Local Government Area.

With Ogo-Oluwa West Local Council Development Area (LCDA) created out of the Council area, it is now left with six political wards:

  • Ward One –           Ajaawa
  • Ward Two –           Ojutaye
  • Ward Five –           Idewure
  • Ward Six –             Lagbedu
  • Ward Seven –        Iwo-Ate
  • Ward Ten –           Otamokun

The population of the Council Area according to 2006 Population Census is 126,000.
